Transfer Students

In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction.  Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners. submit your application to Faulkner Law through LSAC.org.

Programs Offered

Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Faulkner Law prepares students to practice law with purpose, but we know that our students’ paths to practice may differ. That is why we offer two main degree programs to better accommodate the unique educational goals of our students.

LL.M. (MASTER OF LAWS) IN DISPUTE RESOLUTION Individuals eligible for matriculation include the following:
Individuals who have earned a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school or who have earned the first degree of law required for law practice or law teaching (for those who earned the first last degree outside of the United States); or
Students currently enrolled in Faulkner Law’s J.D. program. Under section 5-202, up to 12 credits earned in J.D. studies may be credited to the LL.M.

Faulkner Law offers two scheduling options:

Full-time J.D. Schedule

A full load of on-campus, weekday classes over three years. Reduced course load options are available.

Executive J.D. Schedule

Reduced load of blended classes over four years. Blended classes will meet on campus every other weekend on Friday evenings and Saturdays and will have an asynchronous distance education component during the week.

Joint J.D./LL.M. in Dispute Resolution

Joint J.D./LL.M. in Dispute Resolution – This joint degree program is designed to permit students to complete both the J.D. and LL.M. degrees in the same three years it normally takes to earn the J.D. Faulkner Law students can apply up to 12 credit hours towards both degrees (a total of 100 credit hours is required to graduate). If you already have your J.D. you can earn the 24-credit hour LL.M. degree full-time, or part-time over a maximum of five years.

Transfer JD Student Policies

Transfer Only When in Good Standing.

A student must be in good standing at the other law school at the time of transferring to Jones School of Law.

Limitations on Transfer of Credit.

(a)  All course work accepted for transfer must be taken either at an ABA-approved law school or in an ABA-approved program.

(b) No more than 30 semester hours of academic credits shall be accepted for transfer.

(c) The law school shall accept transfer credit only for courses in which the grade received is equal to or higher than the grade point average required for grad­ua­tion at the other law school.

(d) Credit for any course required for graduation from Jones School of Law shall be accepted for transfer only when the course taken shall have been comparable to the course offered at Jones School of Law.

“P” for All Transfer Credit.

All grades for which credit is transferred shall be entered as “P” on the student’s records and shall not affect the student’s cumulative grade point average.

  • You may submit an online application through www.lsac.org before you complete your CAS Profile or take the LSAT, but we will not make any final decisions on your application until you have completed all steps.
  • You must provide us with a letter of good standing from your current institution, as well as your most recent transcripts.
